What the course is about
This course will help participants understand how Canada’s government and public services work, and how they affect everyday life. Participants will learn about Canadian values like fairness, equity, and inclusion, and how they shape the way Canadian systems support people throughout their lives. articipants will discover the many services available to them in Canada, especially those that help people in need. They will also explore ways to speak up, get involved, and contribute to positive change in Canada
Time allocation: 2:30 hours of videos
+ 30 min. of independent activity


What you will gain

Understand the cultural values of Canadian governance (democracy, secularism, bilingualism, inclusivity, the rule of law, etc.).

Understand how elections work and how you participate in Canadian democracy.

Identify what the different levels of government in Canada are responsible for.

Understand the difference between equity, equality, and inclusion, and how they affect public policy and our private lives.

Gain awareness of a wide range of social services available to the general public and specific vulnerable groups.

Understand how Canadian society works towards common causes through social engagement and self-organizing initiatives.

Discover your right for personal voice and agency.
